Kambakkam/Thada water fall is located near Kalahasti (Andhrapradesh). This water fall located deep inside a dry evergreen forest that requires at least 45 minutes of trekking on big stones and boulders to reach it. This place is a paradise to botanists who can arrange field trips to their students of schools and colleges to teach them biodiversity and to collect specimens from algae to angiosperms. Buses from Chennai and Chithoor (AP) are plying up to Varadhaiaphalem.

From this place one can hire an auto to reach the entrance of this forest stream. From there starts all fun. Differentially abled people should avoid visiting this place. Walking in the stream without wearing footware is not advisable as here and there some glass pieces are found. Jumping or diving in the stream is also not advaisable as boulders with sharp edges are present submerged in the water.

Do not feed fish in the stream as well as monkeys along the stream. Do not use plastics in side the forest and if you use any such things please do not throw in the stream or in other places of the forest as these would cause irreparable damage to flora and fauna there.

Pulicat Lake, is a brackish water lake located near Chennai. Major portion of the lake lies in Andhrapradesh. Besides having rich fauna comprising a variety of fishes, crabs, prawns this lake also host a variety of flora. Algologists visit this lake for collecting marine algae. A field station of Madras Christian College is also present there. People from Madras Christian College and the care taker at field station, Pulicat lake can be contacted for any help for academic and research activities. A boat with a capacity of 25 people will cost Rs.500/- as hiring charges for about an hour or two. This video presents a birds view of the lake and will be useful for any algologist interested in visiting the lake.

International Conference on Algal Biomass-Resources and Utilization (ICABRU) was held from 27th July to 30th July 2009. This conference was organized by Krishnamurthy Institute of Algology, Chennai and Department of Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology, Stella Maris College, Chennai and other organizations. As part of this conference mid conference trips were arranged. One such trip was arranged for Kambakkam'Thada waterfall on 29th July 2009. This trip has facilitated a group of participants from different states of India to collect freshwater algae from the hill stream. This video presentation is all about their activities in this hill stream.
